A Little About Me

The FIRST and most important things to me and in my life is my LORD and SAVER JESUS CHRIST without him I can do nothing. Philippians 4:13

I have been grouse hunting and training with bird dogs over 16 years. Grouse hunting is something I love to do and couldn't imagine doing it without my setters by my side. During my 16 years I've got to hunt with and own several different dogs/breeds and out of all the dogs and breeds out there that I've had the opportunity to be involved with the Ryman & Old Hemlock english setters have stolen a special place in my heart. Since I live in the Appalachian Mountains and get the great opportunity to foot hunt some very ruff territory, these setters fit my hunting style and need. In the grouse woods their a beautiful sight to behold and at home their a joy to have around.

My Breeding Program

My #1 Goal is to Better the breed and try to raise puppies with the greatest potential to become excellent bird dogs and companions. So first let me say that I do not sell or raise dogs for a living. My dogs are not kennel dogs that are kept up all the time for the purpose of breeding and never hunted. I own my dogs for the pleaser I have getting to hunt with them and having them around my home, so ALL my dogs are hunted/proven on birds and very socialized. I do not raise or sell dogs for field trials, I raise dogs with the foot hunter in mind and use very stricked guide lines for breeding. I have chosen the Ryman & Old Hemlock setters because of the huge amount of natural ability they posses and for the fact that I'm a foot hunter. With the huge amount of natural ability they posses they are easy to train, even for the beginner if given the opportunity. They also have great noses and I've learned if they have the ability they have to have the nose to find the birds. Before I breed a dog it must be proven to be in good health (hips, elbows etc.). It must be proven on birds (for me primarily grouse) and show their bird finding ability, their natural ability, and their temperment as a bird dog. By doing this it has allowed me to witness the great noses, temperment, and natural ability the Ryman & Old Hemlock setters have.
